Lesson Plan #1
Life cycles of plants. n.d. Retrieved October 18, 2012, from http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks2/science/living_things/life_cycles/read/1/
This website would be good for my entire class, especially students who are more developmentally mature. This website includes the life cycle of flowering plants, petals, sepals, stamens, and much more. This vocabulary is a little complex for most second graders, however, I have some extremely curious and intelligent students in my class. I think my students would enjoy the challenge and would be excited to learn advanced material regarding plants. I would not prefer to address this website as a classroom activity but I would suggest it to my students to look over after their other classwork is finished or at home. I would use this for differentiating my unit plan.

National tropical botanical garden. n.d. Retrieved October 18, 2012, from http://ntbg.org/plants/plant_details.php
The National Tropical Botanical Garden (NTBG) is a not-for-profit institution. This organization is dedicated to discovering, saving, and studying the world's tropical plants. NTBG provides detailed descriptions of tropical plants that is open for students to explore and discover. This site is very applicable to Hawaii residents because many of the plant can be found in local neighborhoods. The National Tropical Botanical Garden also gives students the opportunity to help by "Sharing the Garden". I think this site would be best for older graders, fifth and sixth specifically, because the reading level and content. However, there are fun pictures and puzzles that would be appropriate for any grade level.

Lesson Plan #3
Plant life cycle. (2012). Retrieved October 30, 2012, http://www.brainpopjr.com/science/plants/plantlifecycle/preview.weml
This website instantly interested me because my students love videos. I do not think that videos are effective on their own but when paired with other lessons and student discovery they can be very effective. I especially like Brain Pop Junior videos because they are colorful, animated, humorous, and informational. I would use this video/website near the end of a unit or in the middle. I would not introduce the topic with a video because I think it is important for students to first experiment. Science lesson should be based on inquiry and allowing students to formulate their own ideas. When videos are paired with inquiry based units they can be effective.

Website #4
The great plant escape. (2011). Retrieved October 20, 2012, from http://urbanext.illinois.edu/gpe/gpe.html
The great plant escape website is great for student exploration in a creative and fun way. This website guides the students through a series of steps in order to reach goals relating to seed and plants. Students need to list the important things needed for plant growth as well as the growth for living organisms. Students are asked to describe and record information and listen for answers and find new information. This website also encourages students to predict how different plants grow. This website makes learning fun for students by having them solve plant mysteries through casework. This website would be good for third grade students.

The life cycle of plants. n.d. Retrieved October 27, 2012, from http://www2.bgfl.org/bgfl2/custom/resources_ftp/client_ftp/ks2/science/
plants_pt2/index.htm
I chose this website because it is interactive and informative. Students are able to use the website to develop their understanding of seed growth, the parts of a flower, seed dispersal, and plant identification. The website also provides worksheets for students to practice their understanding. Some students enjoy worksheets after they have experimented and explored. Students enjoy showing me what they have learned. I also like that this website is simple and it is not cluttered or funny. Students would not have issues working with this website. I would hope that class time could be set aside to access this website using the classrooms set of ipads. Websites like this one are also effective because students can explore at their own place.
